The Bittersweet Story of Cocoa Plants

  
In the forest of South and Central America, the Cacao plant was discovered to become the largest foodstuff in the world, because everybody love chocolate and the taste is also good. The plant was in hot and rainy environments. Then sometimes everyone eat chocolate at the day of easter, and usually chocolate form to egg or bunny.
               
”An estimated 70 per cent of the world's cocoa supplies come from two countries in West Africa, Ghana and the Ivory Coast.” Said Tim Costello. 

He is CEO of World Vision Australia. Then he was said that Ivory Coast is the largest chocolate producer. Ivory coast produce around 1,300,000 tons and in Ghana around 720,000 tons.
               
“Nearly 50 per cent of these children had reported to have sustained injuries from their work.” Researched by Tulane University in New Orleans.

 This university found that 2,000,000 children were working on cocoa, and it was related to Ghana and the Ivory Coast. Then they found nearly 50% of these children was injured from their work. They get injured because they was working under the sun and often on an empty stomach.
               
Then for solve this problem the Australian industry is significantly increase ethically sourced cocoa for their products, so a small levy of 2 cents in every $10 of chocolate sales can help the cocoa farmer to abolish child and trafficked labor for funding.
